Week 11 NFL Picks

There is lots of good value to be found in the NFL picks this week.  The best bet of the round has to be the Greenbay Packers who are up against Brett Farve and the Vikings.  The Vikings form this season has been all over the place, whilst Greenbay has been one of the few consistent teams. The Giants are also good value paying 2.72.

If you are up for a bit of a punt, then the Detroit Lions are worth a shot at 3.30 against the Cowboys.  The Cowboys won convincingly last week, but like many teams this year have been way to inconsistent and could easily fall to the Lions.

Solid Picks

  • Tennessee Titans (1.33)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (1.32)
  • Greenbay Packers (1.64)
  • New York Jets (1.39)
  • Baltimore Ravens (1.16)
  • Atlanta Falcons (1.59)
  • New Orleans Saints (1.20)
  • San Diego Chargers (1.25)

Close Games

  • New England Patriots (1.56)
  • New York Giants (2.72)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (1.34)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2.80)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (1.50)
  • Detroit Lions (3.30)

Week 2 NFL Picks

Week 1 saw us pick 3 out of 5 correctly, with the Vikings going down to the Saints in a close game and the Colts falling to the Texans in what was one of the biggest upsets of the round.

For my week 2 NFL picks, I am going to go with:

  • Green Bay Packers
  • New Orleans Saints
  • New England Patriots
  • Seattle Seahawks
  • Minnesota Vikings

Week 1 NFL Picks

Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here and so are our top five expert NFL Picks for the week.

Minnesota @ New Orleans

The Vikings are starting their season against last years champions the New Orleans saints in what will be a rematch of the NFC title game.  New Orleans are the favorite with the bookmakers, however I believe that Farve will be looking to atone for his five interceptions in their last encounter and will  lead the Vikings to a narrow victory in what should be a high scoring game.

Carolina @ NY Giants

Not much to say about this match-up as it  should be an easy win for Eli Manning and the Giants.

Cincinnati @ New England

New England are looking like a very strong team again this year and provided the key play makers stay healthy they will be there in the playoffs.  With Brady and Welker both healthy, the Patriots should be in for a very big win against the Bengals.

Greenbay @ Philadelphia

The fans in Wisconsin are expecting big things out of Aaron Rogers and the Packers this year and a panel of ‘experts’ on NFL.com even went so far as to unanimously pick the Pack as the NFC’s Superbowl team.  The Eagles will put up a good fight against the packers, but Greenbay should win this one by a couple of TD’s.

Indianapolis @ Houston

The Colts are favorites with the bookies to beat the Texans, however they are still very good value at $1.70.  It would be a brave man who bet against Peyton Manning and his offensive machine,  so I am picking the Colts to win what should be a runway game in the end.

Picks

  • Minnesota Vikings
  • New York Giants
  • New England Patriots
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Green Bay Packers

Top 5 Quarterbacks of 2009

The 2009/10 NFL season produced some great QB performances.  Drew Brees finished the season  with a QB rating of 109.6, narrowly edging out Brett Farve (107.2) for the top spot. The problem with the Quarterback rating however is that it doesn’t take into account other aspects of the game such as the number of times a Quarterback is sacked.

Brett Farve Vikings 2009

Brett Farve

As an example Drew Brees was sacked 20 times during the regular season whilst Brett Farve was sacked 34 times.  It might seem like an over simplification, however if a QB is being sacked regularly then it means they are being put under significant pressure.  Putting up huge numbers in the face of such pressure is what makes a great QB and for this reason Brett Farve gets the top spot in my top five Quarterbacks of 2009.

Second spot on the list goes to Drew Brees.  With the highest QB rating, a league leading 34 regular season touch downs and a Super Bowl win, Drew Brees is an easy choice for second spot.

In third place we have Green Bays Aaron Rogers.  With 30 touch downs and only 7 interceptions during the regular season, Rogers put up his best numbers since becoming the Packers starting QB to lead Green Bay to the playoffs.

Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning took the Colts to the Super Bowl and also picks up fourth spot on our list.  Manning had another outstanding year throwing for 4500 yards (2nd overall)  and 33 touch downs during the regular season.  Had it not been for his 16 interceptions (his worst performance since 2002) Manning would have challenged Rogers for third place.

Fifth spot on our list belongs to Phillip Rivers.  With 28 touch downs, 9 interceptions and a QB rating of 104.4, Rivers had an outstanding year leading the Chargers to a 13-3 record.

Top 5 Overview

  1. Brett Farve
  2. Drew Brees
  3. Aaron Rogers
  4. Peyton Manning
  5. Phillip Rivers
